now, u.s. futures are falling ahead of this morning's much anticipated jobs report. they're doin' more than 20 points. european and asian stocks both rose overnight. this comes after the european central bank announced aggressive liquidity measures to help send off a financial crisis. this morning, we'll have a better idea of how the economy is doing when the september jobs report is released. economists say they expect the report will likely show a fifth straight month of slight or no job creation. the survey says employers created a net 55,000 new jobs last month. the report will be released at 8:30 this morning. >>> president obama is pushing his jobs bill. the president told the press that the demonstrations give a voice to broader frustrations sweeping the country over how the financial system has become. he says the proposal is to tax the most wealthy americans. as critics say the president is not focused on jobs any more. >> mr. president, why have you given up on the country and decided to campaign full time instead of doing what the american people sent us all here to do? prop

no idea where the child is. good morning. thanks for joining us for "news 4 today." i'm eun yang. >> and i'm joe krebs. this morning everyone is still talking about that tornado spotted on i-95. the national weather service confirmed the tornado touched down near the highway in northern virginia. people stuck in traffic on the highway used their cell phones to take pictures and video of the twister. this video was taken by darlene brock around 5:30 near quantico. you could see debris swirling as the traffic moved across the interstate. pretty spooky. no one was injured. however, it still rattled the nerves of a lot of folks trapped in their cars. >> the car was rocking, and there was debris hitting the car. it was just very terrifying. i thought maybe it was going to pick my car up and take me away, but it didn't. just rocked it some. >> imagine how fearsome that was. some of the worst storm damage is in vienna. the strong winds knocked over trees and power lines along hunter mill road and wickens road. dominion power worked through the night to restore electricity. at one point 5,000 peop

washington, 17th and monroe. police tell us a little after 4:00 a.m. this morning, there was some sort of a shooting in the area. the victim, described just as a male, we don't know if it was a juvenile or adult, was shot and tried to flee the scene by getting in their car and driving away. didn't make it very far. the car left the roadway. he lost control. the vehicle went up onto the sidewalk. it actually hit a retaining wall here right at the intersection of 17th and monroe. the person who was shot has been transported to the hospital. they are in critical condition. investigators are here on the scene trying to piece together exactly what happened collecting physical evidence. while they were doing that, that's when a small blaze broke out in the front of the car. one of the investigators here on the scene grabbed the fire extinguisher, tried to put it out using that extinguisher. just couldn't do that. it was a little too much of a fire. fire crews arrived on the scene, and it looks like they have pretty much put it out at this point. in terms of the shooting, who's responsible, w

with the tools they say brittany norwood used as weapons to beat jayna murray. several police officers testified. one saying that a wound norwood suffered did not look defensive in nature. and the other said norwood told her she tried to save-mile-per-hour save murray from the two men that attacked them. a nurse testified there was no evidence of rape and that the wound were superficial. >>> a loudoun county school bus driver is in custody this morning accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill her boyfriend and his other girlfriend. prosecutors say angenine cinnamon wanted the woman she referred to as her boyfriend's mistress dead. she found the hit man on a website, but he then alerted the fbi to the plot. cinnamon negotiated the price of the murder down from $1,000 to $500 but could only afford a down payment of $100. she also refused to pay for the potential hit man's airfare. cinnamon then asked for a two for one deal andn't waed the hit man to kill her boyfriend as well. >>> new allegations this morning in the federal probe into d.c. mayor vincent gray's campaign. an anonymous source tell

, firefighters rescued several people in from a fast-spreading fire. authorities tell us eight families had to leave their apartments. a news 4 crew was there as firefighters were wrapping up. the blaze appears to have started on the second floor and ved. the cause is still under investigation. >>> another evacuation overnight, this one in northwest washington. petco is trying to figure out what caused underground smoke at seventh and arte street. everybody is said to be okay. >>> new overnight, police and investigators are looking into a stabbing at 14th street near meridian place. there is no word on his condition and whether police are looking for anyone else in connection with the crime. >>> a scare in california, at least 18 people have been injured. two amtrak trains collided. the crash has happened around 10:00 pim pacific time at the amtrak station in oakland. investigators describe it as a low speed crash with one of the trains stopped at the time of the collision. an amtrak spokesperson says none of the injury are serious. >>> a popular resort town in indonesia is rattled this mor

burial has been delayed. news 4's melissa mollet joins us in the news room with more on that. melissa, good morning. >> good morning to you, eun. >>> we just received word in the news room that gadhafi's burial has been delayed until his death can be examined by a court. a third party will look at the paperwork. some video we're about to show you is fairly graphic. it was taken by a bystander after gadhafi's capture. he can be seen bloody and wobbling. they found him in a sewer pipe and moved him to a truck, where he was shot in the head from cross fire. the u.n. human rights office now wants a probe into the circumstances surrounding his killing. a spokesman says this shaky amateur video showing a captured gadhafi first alive and then dead are very disturbing. for families who lost loved ones in the pan am 103 explosion over lockerbie, scotland, they believe it's finally an end. >> to bring an end to the man that called for the bombing, that is true justice. >> gadhafi's body is in misrata where it was taken. he will not have a public funeral. >>> news 4's melissa mollet live this mo
